“This is one of those places that you just do not find down the conventional path~ It was truly the most majical place I have ever been...I say that because the purity and respect for the environs and culture was so beautiful. The staff was so wonderful~ Here though,you have to put your normal guidlines to the side...it is a trek to get there (8 hrs by car from Cairo into the Sahara on a not-great road for the last 4hrs.) You do not see the staff most of the time but when you need them,they find you. This by the way,is NOT a bad thing! It is deafening in its silence...no electricity and so the silence of that is incredible. The food was delicious and creative and modern and all organic, AMAZING! This is the love- project of a man who wanted to preserve a culture and place. It is not for the person that wants nightlife, their cell phone or for that matter their i-pod (no where to charge it!). It would be great for a group of musicians to jam into the night around the fire one the salt lake with the moon over the Palmeraie!! It is elegant and chic and beautifully done. I hope only the people that "get it" have the experience as it would be wasted on others~”
