1. “The hotel charmed us from the get go. Its location was particularly curious, for we climbed up for at least 15 minutes before we got to the very narrow alley among tall pine trees that led us to the entrance. The place itself was serene, beautiful and away from the extremely touristic hullabaloo of the hotel district of Funchal (Estrada Monumental). Plus the room had an excellent view of Funchal, a lovely terrace with chaise lounges to enjoy Nespresso coffee and the most comfortable hotel bed I had the pleasure of sleeping in, in years. The service was excellent; we wanted to extend our stay and the management was extremely helpful and generous. We were truly sad to leave the place.”
