“The room we stayed in was in need of some minor maintenance. For example, there were some big chips in the wood cladding on the outside of the bathtub/shower. Additionally, some of the decor seemed a little tired. An update is perhaps in order.”

“The Grand is like an oasis of calm in an already laid-back city. From the moment you walk in you feel welcome; during our stay the staff were extremely gracious and helpful, providing annotated maps, recommendations, taxis and anything else we needed. The decor is generally great (and it's such a characterful old building) but the rooms are exquisite - high-ceilinged, beautifully finished and lush. Almost *too* lush - it's tempting to curl up on the huge and comfortable beds and just never leave! I definitely recommend the place - including the bar on the first floor, which served the finest mojitos I have yet tasted (and I have tasted quite a few!)”

“The front desk staff was incredibly gracious and helpful throughout our stay. We arrived early for check-in and they brought us up to the restaurant for coffee while our bags were taken care of for us. The concierge made several excellent dinner recommendations and helped us book a canal cruise. We were upgraded to a two floor apartment. Although the furnishings were a bit dated, we never felt like we were in a hotel. As soon as we stepped inside, it was like staying in a relative's apartment in Amsterdam. The apartment had a bedroom, 1 1/2 baths, kitchen, sitting area and dining table. Incredibly spacious and very comfortable. Common areas are beautiful. Lobby, outdoor garden, lounge and restaurant were all very well designed and beautifully executed.”
