  1. “Present Jaipur’s foundation was laid in 1727 and it took 8 years for its completion. Jaipur was the first city in India to enjoy rigorous town planning laid on the principles of "Shilpa Shastra," an ancient Indian treatise on architecture. The city was built with high walls for protection with wide, straight avenues that divide it into nine sectors (reflecting the nine divisions of the universe, resembling the Indian horoscope), each named after the commodity and caste who lived and practiced their specific skills there. Jaipur is also known as the Pink City, because of the terra-cotta-colored lime plaster that coats the old part of the city's walls, buildings, and temples. The reasons for painting the town pink are unknown, some say it is because Maharaja Jai Singh II's being a devotee of Lord Shiva and as pink was his favourite. The most popular reason is that pink is the traditional color of hospitality, and the old part of the city was freshly painted and paved with pink gravel to warmly welcome Edward VII for his visit here in 1876. Today, Jaipur is a thriving world class economy that attracts more and more multinational enterprises to set up shop here than in any other city of prominence in North India. Jaipur is located 259km (160 miles) south west of Delhi & 232km (144 miles) west of Agra.Pushkar is situated 120 kms from Jaipur and is one of the five sacred dhams, pilgrimage sites for devout Hindus; it is often called "Tirth Raj" (the king of pilgrimage sites). It has five principle temples, many smaller temples and 52 ghats where pilgrims decend to the lake to bathe in the sacred waters. One of the primary temples is the 14th century temple dedicated to Brahma, the Hindu god of creation. Pushkar is also famous for its annual Pushkar Camel Fair.Samode is situated around 42 km from Jaipur, the capital city. Located on way to Shekhawati, this small village is famous for its haveli and fort. Samode is an ideal desert getaway. During the day, a camel ride through the Samode village and the surrounding countryside is a good idea. Riding this gentle animal with its rocking gait is the best way to relax on a sunny morning.Sprawling over an undulating terrain of Aravali and Vindhyan ranges, in the heart of Rajasthan, is the wilderness of Ranthambore National Park, one of the finest Tiger Reserves of India. Formerly the hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Jaipur, it was declared a National Park in 1972. Dry deciduous forests, lakes, meadows, mountains and forts combine to create a park of great beauty, which still has a healthy population of tigers. In this beautiful setting you can also see leopards, hyena, deer, sloth bear, wild boar and jungle cat.Access : By Air - Jaipur has a domestic airport By Rail - Connected by rail to major cities By Road – Agra (240 km), Bharatpur (174 km), Alwar (142 km), Delhi (259 km), Neemrana (138 km), Samode (40 km), Nimaj (230 km), Shahpura ( 220 km), Ranthambore (160 km)”
